Healthy desserts

This post is a bit late, but remember when we had that gorgeous spell of lovely warm weather? Rack your brains, I'm going back about 2 weeks. Remember those nice walks by the river sipping iced lattes, cool and refreshing sorbets from your local gelato/ice cream shop, playing tennis in the sunshine.... mmm. Hang on to that thought people, because the two super simple recipes are all about the warm weather. Maybe it's just this California girl missing the clear blue skies and 70+ degree weather (that's 20C here), but lately I've been craving homemade frozen sweet treats like they're going out of style. But. I've also been trying to stay away from white processed sugar as much as possible. Hence, these easy peasy sugar-free blendable delights: banana ice cream and peach ice cream.

1 ripe banana, chopped and frozen
non-dairy milk of choice (I used almond but I'm pretty sure hazelnut or soya would work too)

Ok, this one requires you to think ahead a bit, but seriously, you should all have a little container of chopped bananas in your freezer at all times! They're really great for smoothies and now you have another reason. A delicious and healthy reason. Add your frozen banana and about 1/4 cup milk to your blender and start blending away. You will probably need to add more milk as you blend in order to get the right consistency, but do this very slowly or it will become way too 'milky'. That's it! I'm serious. No sugar/sweetener needed. Ripe bananas are so sweet on their own, and somehow become even more sweet when you freeze them. Scoop into a mug, bowl or serving receptacle of your choice and enjoy! Oh, and you can pretty much follow this recipe per person. One banana = one serving.

1 big handful of frozen peaches
non-dairy milk of choice (again, I used almond here but anything will work)
Agave or maple syrup, to taste

I made this one twice. First time was with about 1tsp of agave and the second time was without. To be honest, I think it needs the agave. Peaches, whilst beautiful and lovely when really ripe, are not always easily available in sunny London so yes, I buy bags of frozen fruit. Add the peaches and 1/3 cup milk to blender and start blending. Drizzle in some agave and add more milk (again, slowly) as needed. Scoop into your mouth a mug and eat. So easy and so good!

Until next time my pretties, and I promise not to be away for so long this time.
Bon appetit!
